Note: An Internet connection is required to perform a firmware update. From the Home Screen, choose Settings from the bottom-left. From the Settings menu, navigate to the Others tab in the bottom-left, then choose Software Update to open the update options screen.
This screen will display your Current Software Version , and provide some additional Software Update related options explained over the next few slides. Turn Software Update on or off. If set to Off , Software Updating will be disabled, and you will not receive update notifications. To proceed, set this to On. Check this box to allow your Smart TV to automatically checkfor, download, and install software updates. If left unchecked with Software Update set to On , you will be notifiedwhen an update is available, but will have to manually completethe process.
If an update is available for your TV, you will see thefollowing notification. Click the Update button to start.
You may choose to Hide the update progress screen ifyou'd like to continue using your TV during the update. Pressthe Info button on your remote at any time to view theprogress. Note: This process may take some time andwill need to be plugged in and powered on until it's complete.
Firmware can be updated manually by downloading the updatefile from lg. A USB flash drive with at least the size of the firmwareupdate of available storage check the file size on your productsupport page. Click your model from the predictive drop-down list that appears below the search box as you type.
When the extraction dialog opens, you can leave all of the deafult settings and click Extract. One consequence of that fact is that today, TVs need constant software updates to add new features, improve on existing video processing, and update apps. Even more important, software updates are necessary to improve security and thwart hackers. Installing the latest LG TV update software gives you the best version of webOS, and installing the most recent update is just a few clicks away.
First, press the settings button with the cog icon on the remote control to open the quick settings options. This will bring to a short menu letting you manually install the latest LG TV update software, or set it to automatically update as needed.

Download the latest firmware file. The firmware will be downloaded to your computer. Take note of the file download location: Windows OS - files typically download to your Downloads folder. In Windows, files typically download to your "Downloads" folder. Locate the file you downloaded. Right-click the file and select Extract All The extract window will appear. Take note of the extract location folder. If you wish to extract to another location such as a USB drive or a different folder on the computer, click Browse and pick a new location.
Click Extract when you are done. Once the files are extracted, a new Explorer window will appear with the uncompressed files. The location will be shown in the address bar while the extracted files files will appear below. Open the USB drive. Right-click in the blank space, highlight New , then click Folder. A " New Folder " will be created. The folder must be located in the root drive of the USB. The file type should be EPK. Turn on the TV.
