These are really the weight of long sleeve tee shirts, but they are wonderful! There also so wool-blend versions on the site from fall, but I have not tried those. Janice, I love the Tree of Life and the Hydrangeas scarves. Janice…have a very blessed Christmas Eve and day!! Thank you for this year and I really look forward to !! Torn between Tree of Life and Ruskin Meadow. Having been a classical musician in the past I have a significant amount of black in my wardrobe concert black attire.
Thus, both scarves could work for me but the Ruskin Meadow would definitely draw out my eyes the most. Looking forward to seeing how the wardrobes develop!
The Hydrangea scarf is gorgeous and my favourite with the Chrysanthemum a very close second. Xxx Thank you for all your hard work this year and I wish you and yours a peaceful, healthy holiday season.
What a perfect gift! Thank you for these inspiring colors. The olive is great, and I would do mostly greens and blues with this, maybe with a charcoal gray as an alternate neutral, and skip the gold completely except for jewelry.
The Start with a Scarf is definitely a fan favorite and it looks like the coming year is also going to be a winner! Thank you for starting the New Year with these delights. Joe Fresh, a Canadian brand, has some beautiful long sleeved t-shirts made of organic cotton in wonderful colours. There is an olive green that is a very good neutral. An unbelievably good price in my estimation. The quality is superb.
I bought it in about five colours. It so comfortable. Merry Christmas and a great New Year. Thanks for all you do. Janice, you have outdone yourself with these scarves!
My absolute favorite one is the Hydrangea, with Chrysanthemum as the runner up. I have all the accent colors but need to work on a navy core wardrobe, so this will be very helpful to me.
Wishing you, Belovedest, and your Mom a very happy holiday season! The scarf selections are so exciting! I, too, prefer rectangles, but besides that, the nature-based designs and color combos are so delicious—how to pick a favorite will be a quandary. Yes, about gothic architecture. Plus, oddly enough, J. Though, of course the latter are valuable in their own right for learning about art and nearly everything else. Good job! The fabric choice is softer, nothing shiny, no sharp graphics, even the subject matter is more gentle.
For example, last years Mountain scarf. Love these! All of these scarves are SO beautiful, it was difficult to select my favorites to follow this year.
Last year, I purchased the Mountain View scarf and was very pleased with how my wardrobe came together. This year, I am looking forward to following the development of the wardrobe based on the Sampler scarf. Well done, Janice! I am excited by the Ginko scarf having started over last year getting ready to return to the office. I discovered chartreuse really works well with my coloring!
So that is the one I will be most intrigued with. Of note, Universal Standard has released some fantastic colors of tee shirts that may work brilliantly for these — and they really are size inclusive.
I own several of these shirts. Good sale prices this month, too. Oh my … I would be happy with any one of these scarves. Hard to pick just one. The colors of each appeal to me. Playing along with Chrysanthemum this year instead of watching from the sidelines.
Looking forward to it! Oh mi goodness. I actually OWN the Hydrangea scarf…. I have been toying with the idea of doing another wardrobe sew-along next year and even pulled that scarf out as a possibility.
Gorgeous scarves and some very interesting color palettes this year! None of these are as spot-on for me as the Mountain View last year, but I will be watching all of them with curiosity. The Tree of Life scarf is probably my favorite design of the set. Starting the capsules with these basic neutral pieces is a brilliant idea and reflects a better start-from-scratch OR start-from-your-wardrobe capsule-building strategy than outfit by outfit though the outfit by outfit was certainly fun!
Thank you for all your hard work this year. I love the Vivienne Files and look forward to every post. The scarves are wonderful.
Merry Christmas Janice. Teri, try the PJ Studio Accessories site. I found it there, on sale. Good luck with the scarf. Ruskin does it for me as I already have an olive green basic capsule but sadly the v-neck Treasure and Bond sweater is not available in Olive Green. I am already very excited for these scarves! I think they will inspire beautiful and yet practical wardrobes. My favorite so far is the Ginko.
I was torn between the chrysanthemum and hydrangea scarves. I have purchased the chrysanthemum as as it contains shades I gravitate towards. My goal for this week was to show you nice lightweight cotton turtlenecks in stripes, or paisleys, or some whimsical prints, that brighten up your winter outfits.
I'm not a martyr to my lists, nor am I completely nuts; we're going to look at more options for turtlenecks in pretty accent colors. For those among us who crave colors, there's really no limit to how many different color bottom layers you can have in the dead of deep, dark winter!
For example - if you have a beautiful scarf that you adore, you should definitely be looking for a tee shirt or They're currently calling this type of pattern "space-dyed;" I would have described it as variegated. Back in my youth, you could buy yarn or embroidery thread that was like this, in all sorts of color combinations Right off the bat, I was sure that this would be lovely with rust, blue or green because those colors are very easily seen in this sweater, even from a distance.
I have to warn you - just because a color is present within a garment doesn't automatically mean that wearing that color WITH said garment will be As soon as I saw this "rust red" - I know that this was where I wanted to start!
To me, this color is very close to the color of warmly brown leather These 6 additions to the original 5 garments give you something that can legitimately be called a wardrobe! It's not huge, but for a long weekend, this would serve you well:. Since I couldn't find 5 beige Happy New Year!
Let's all be as kind, and as happy, as we can possibly manage! Why do anything else, right? Today, I'm looking at the possibilities of a suit with a turtleneck.
Not a "real" suit - although you could certain wear a real suit if your life calls for one. I'm thinking more of a matching 2nd layer top and pants. This can be sweatpants - we're not judgmental First up, no matter how grey the day, or your wardrobe, the addition of butter yellow brightens up everything! Oddly enough, you are going to see this next turtleneck twice; sometimes scarves that I see seem to suggest the same accent You know, those flowers that appear in the ornamented capital letters at the beginning of a manuscript chapter?
From the time she chose her thesis topic a few years ago, to be honest! If they were colored, of course! So when she travels to So I must apologize; normal service will be restored as soon as I'm well enough to sit at my computer for a bit If you don't already follow Alexey Kljatov on Instagram, go find him and add him to your list. He takes snowflake photographs, and his images will change what you thought you knew about snow, as well as fill your day with amazement and beauty Now that we've all survived the extravagance and jollity of the early winter holidays, it's time to remind ourselves that - most of the time - we need some practical, neutral clothes to serve as the base for our more wonderful and distinctive things I suspect that many of us got sweaters for Christmas or Hanukkah If you're trying to find an easy way to wear your new sweater, how about layered over a neutral column?
Any advice or suggestions? I just tried to add "The Vivienne Files Pantone Color Planner" and received the error message that the product does not exist. I think it's fixed — so sorry this happened!
Thanks for letting me know… hugs, Janice. I just purchased several of you products through Paypal, but haven't received anything. It may have gone to my old email address. Can they be resent? Send me your correct email to theviviennefiles gmail.
I really like how you show all the combinations with the clothing. I also appreciate that you include all, like jewelry, scarves, and even footwear!
